At the recent AGM, chairman Kevin Geaney presented his Annual Review for the 2015/16 season.
Last season saw growth for both the Junior and Senior sections of the club. Juniors increased to one Yr 8 team, two Yr 6 teams and the introduction of a First Hits programme for 5 & 6 year olds. Seniors had four teams competing in Auckland Cricket competitions and one in the Auckland Business House competition.
Results for the Seniors were mixed with the best placed Senior team securing a second placing in their division. The main focus for the Juniors last season was to learn new skills, develop the basics and have some fun. The committee hope that all who participated last season enjoyed what our small club has provided and are looking forward to returning for the 2016/17 season.
Financially, the club is in a good state, having secured grant funding to help with maintaining gear and providing balls for both the Junior and Senior teams for this coming season.
There are exciting times ahead for the club, the formation of the new Oratia Sports Club will further solidify our relationship with the Football Club and provide an all-year-round sporting facility for all our members to use and participate in.
I would like to thank everyone who helped out last season with both coaching and managing the Junior teams or by being on the Committee and helping the club run effectively for all to enjoy.
Our club is a family friendly club and all the hard work from the committee and volunteers is much appreciated by everyone in our community.
I look forward to a successful 2016/17 season and catching up with everyone when we kick off on Labour Weekend!
